The Many Faces of Johnny Depp

Johnny Depp is a star that isn’t fading out anytime soon.

The man is in his 50s and is still able to tackle any role thrown his way, and he has grown leaps and bounds as an actor since his early days as a major player in the 1984 “Nightmare on Elm Street”. Morbid, humorous, depressing, or excessively enthusiastic, Mr. Depp nails each and every movie that he is cast in.

Here is a quick list of a few diverse and outstanding roles that he has played during his acting career that now spans more than three decades.

Edward Scissorhands

Depp really got into his dark and romantic side while starring in this gothic movie created by Tim Burton. Playing an unfinished, artificial human with large scissors for hands, Johnny Depp pulls at the heartstrings of anyone who sits down to watch this amazing, heartfelt movie.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape

Showing a more realistic and human side of Johnny Depp is his role as Gilbert Grape in the 1993 movie “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape”. The storyline follows two brothers, Gilbert and Arnie, as Gilbert cares for his mentally handicapped brother and navigates through the struggles of everyday life.

Pirates of the Caribbean

This multi-sequel movie stars Johnny Depp as the abrasive and hilarious Captain Jack Sparrow. An outright terrible pirate, drunk, and a raging good time, Depp nails this role-and looks extremely handsome while doing it.

Alice in Wonderland

Almost unrecognizable, Johnny Depp plays the tea loving Mad Hatter in this classic remake. His eccentric behaviors, mixed with a comical and even sad storyline, he proves yet again that he can take on any role that is thrown his way.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Starring as Willie Wonka in another classic movie remake, Johnny Depp portrays his quirky and sarcastic side in yet another diverse character role full of wit and charm. With his heavy makeup and wig, it’s another character where he is borderline unrecognizable but still as talented as ever.

Sweeney Todd

Possibly one of his darkest roles yet is his portrayal of Benjamin Barker in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. While his character is easy to to despise due to the fact that he makes humans into pies throughout the movie, it’s still hard to hate on him knowing that he’s played by such a charming and wonderful actor.

With his ability to play so many different kinds of characters, it’s a toss up as to what kind of movie we will see the infamous Johnny Depp in next. Only one thing is certain when it comes to this actor-no matter what movie he plays in he really knows how to put on a great show.
